MY TOY FAIR BLOG
Please provide a brief introduction to yourself and the company you work for
My name is Sam and I am a 2nd Generation Toy Family member. I have worked full time for Bigjigs Toys since I left school at 17. My mother and father started the company the year I was born, when my mother decided not to go back to her job as a teacher. Bigjigs Toys was born!
What is your favourite part about working in the toy industry?
Toys! The toy industry is not always an easy one, but it is certainly not boring. Imagine selling paper or bin bags for a living!
Give us the inside scoop, what products are you launching at Toy Fair 2023?
There will be over 80 new lines on our stand in 2023. Across these ranges includes Bigjigs Toys, Bigjigs Rail, Green Toys, CollectA and Tiger Tribe. There are also some AWESOME new products in the NeeDoh line that are going to be best sellers very quickly!
What trends do you predict for the Toy Fair industry in 2023?
Sustainability will continue to be the overriding trend. Consumers are demanding more from brands and will continue to do so as new generations become more and more environmentally conscious.
How many years have you exhibited at Toy Fair 2023? Any favourite memories?
2023 will be my 20th Toy Fair! I fondly recall coming to Toy Fair as a teenager and walking from stand to stand playing board games that were new to market. One year there was a brand new fishing board game that had just been launched, my brother and I must have spent a good day and a half playing it. Great fun!
What is your favourite toy?
I love Smart Games! I have brought them for my kids for the past few years. They have been great fun for all the family over the holidays and beyond.
What top tip would you give to a fellow exhibitor or visitor attending their first Toy Fair?
WEAR COMFY SHOES!!! The amount of people who wear new shoes or uncomfortable shoes to Toy Fair and then pay the price for the next week or so is amazing.
