TOY FAIR NEWCOMERS IN 2020

We first attended Toy Fair in January 2020 – a shiny new start-up with a single kit in the marketplace (our now award-winning Telescope), and two more waiting in the wings.

 

We were interviewed and subsequently featured by the BBC due to our eco credentials, which was hugely encouraging. Our range of eco-friendly kits are made from sustainable cardboard with minimal plastics, and our company ethos is ‘Less plastic, paper fantastic’.

 

During our time at Toy Fair, we met lots of retailers and made fantastic connections. Buoyed by positive feedback and an incredibly warm welcome into the toy industry, we left knowing we were creating something that people liked!

 

RETURNING BIGGER AND STRONGER IN 2022

Post-pandemic, we returned to Toy Fair in 2022 with our growing range of kits (now 16) and more in the pipeline.

 

We built our stand entirely from sustainable cardboard, and our innovative eco-friendly design won a Best Designed Stand award. Our new Pinball Machine also won a Toy Fair Hero award which was incredibly exciting.

 

Our time at Toy Fair 2022 was hugely positive – we met some fantastic mainstream media journalists and influencers, gained invaluable insights into the toy industry, and so much more. And we were thrilled that our entire (and growing!) team were able to attend over the few days to experience it all.

 

TREND PREDICTIONS FOR 2023

A focus on sustainability is an incredibly important growing trend, getting bigger and stronger all the time with increasing consumer-demand for environmentally responsible brands. Post-pandemic, consumers are rightly so, making more considered choices about the brands they purchase from.

 

All our kits are made from sustainable paper and board; we will continue to innovate in this planet-friendly space as we develop and grow our product range. And we already have a number of kits which are 100% plastic-free.

 

TOY FAIR 2023

We’re incredibly excited to be introducing our first licensed kits at Toy Fair 2023. In partnership with Aardman Animations, we have three fantastic new Wallace and Gromit kits launching. We can’t wait to show people who visit our stand!

 

We will have all our latest launches – Marble Labyrinth, Kaleidoscope and four Dinosaurs – on stand to demo. These kits are brilliant fun and a fantastic addition to our range of STEM-inspired kits.

 

We are also looking forward to Toy Fair TV, the Demo Zone and Influencer Day being back for 2023 – all great opportunities for Build Your Own. Plus of course, meeting and building relationships with retailers and the media.

 

We will be there with our full range of kits – now 25 in total. Comfy shoes on! Ready for a fantastic few days immersed in the world of toys. We can’t wait!
